2017 Annual General Meeting and Election

2017 SLAM in Airdrie AGM and Election. The SLAM in Airdrie board of directors’ election will be held on June 14, 2017 a the Woodside Golf Course in Airdrie Alberta. The AGM will start at 7:00 pm and all members are encouraged to attend.

 

The ballots will list all the nominees for the positions of President, Treasurer, Secretary and Membership. In the event of multiple nominations for any single position, the elections will be preceded by a presentation from each of the nominees.

 

The strength of the board of directors comes from the different areas of expertise they bring to the table. While a diversity of talent is desirable, experience is usually the primary trait by which potential board members are judged, but many additional qualities comprise a good executive.

 

In the event of multiple nominations for any single position, the elections will be preceded by a presentation from each of the nominees.The selection of a board of directors is an important process because a great deal of responsibility is entrusted to them. It is their responsibility to manage the budget and authorize spending for the society. These men and women possess considerable talents and leadership skills that help determine the overall direction of SLAM in Airdrie.

 

Nominate candidates.

 

  • Candidates must be members in good standing and must agree to your nomination.

  • Nominations are open from 12 noon on May 22, 2017 until 12 noon on June 5, 2017.

  • The candidates list of names will be publish on the slaminairdrie.com website on June 5, 2017.

 

Ballots will be available on election night. One (1) ballot will be given to each member to vote. The polling station will be set up at the AGM from 7 pm until 7:30 pm. the current Secretary will monitor the polling station at all times and act as an election clerk. The Secretary will validate voters and provide them with ballots ensuring that no one is able to vote more than once.

 

Three neutral people will count all the votes.Announce election results. The election results will be announced at the AGM once all the ballots are counted a verified. All positions will take effect June 30, 2017.

Board of Director Positions

President - This is a two-year term.

The President shall be ex‐officio a member of all Committees. He/she shall, when present, preside at all meetings of the society and of the Board. In his/her absence, the Vice‐President shall preside at any such meetings. In the absence of both, a chairperson may be elected at the meeting to preside. Core accountabilities include:

  • Setting the dates for all meetings

  • Preparing meeting agendas

  • Distributing meeting agendas

  • Chairing all meetings

 

Vice PresidentThis is a two-year term.

The Vice President shall be shall assume the duties of the President in the event of the latter’s absence or incapacity. He/she shall perform such other duties as authorized or prescribed for him/her by the President or the Executive Board. Core accountabilities include:

  • Marketing Advertising

  • Promotion Primary spokesperson

  • Social Media

 

Treasurer This is a one-year term.

The Treasurer shall receive all monies paid to the society and be responsible for the deposit of same in whatever Bank, Trust Company, Credit Union or Treasury Branch the Board may order. He/she shall properly account for the funds of the society and keep such books as may be directed. He/she shall present a full detailed account of receipts and disbursements to the Board whenever requested and shall prepare for submission to the Annual Meeting a statement duly audited of the financial position of the society and submit a copy of same to the Secretary for the records of the society. The Office of the Secretary and Treasurer may be filled by one person if any annual meeting for the election of officers shall so decide.

 

Secretary This is a one-year term.

It shall be the duty of the secretary to attend all meetings of the society and of the Board. Core accountabilities include:

Keep accurate minutes of all meetings

Have charge of the Seal of the society which whenever used shall be authenticated by the signature of the Secretary and the President, or, in the case of the death or inability of either to act, by the Vice‐President

Have charge of all the correspondence of the society

Send all notices of the various meetings as requiredCollect and receive the annual dues or assessments levied by the society

Turn over all funds collected to the Treasurer for deposit

 

Membership This is a one-year term requiring 2 directors.

Keep a record of all the members of the society and their addresses. Core accountabilities include:

Maintain the members’ information

Maintain the membership cards

Coordinate efforts to attract new members and retain current members

Compose a quarterly members newsletter
